Privacy Policy

This policy explains what HeyJivan (“we”, operated by HeyJivan) collects, why, and the choices you have. It is written for India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP). By using HeyJivan you agree to this policy.

What we collect

• Account: your mobile number (for login via OTP) and, optionally, your name.
• Location: the city you set, used to tune care advice to local weather and season. We do not track precise GPS.
• Plant data: photos you take or share in, plant types, rooms, and your care actions.
• Usage: basic, non-marketing diagnostics (e.g. which identification provider answered and how confident it was) to keep the service accurate.

Why we use it

• To identify your plants and generate daily care decisions tuned to your city.
• To send you your daily plan and login codes (over WhatsApp, if you opt in).
• To run your subscription and keep the app secure and reliable.

Who we share it with (processors)

We do not sell your data. We share the minimum needed with service providers who process it on our behalf:

• Plant identification: the photo you scan is sent to our identification provider (Pl@ntNet, or a vision model such as Google Gemini / Anthropic Claude) to recognise the species.
• Weather: your city (not your identity) is sent to a weather provider (e.g. OpenWeather).
• Messaging: your mobile number is used with WhatsApp (Meta) to deliver codes and your daily plan, if enabled.
• Payments: subscriptions are processed by Razorpay; we do not store your card details.
• Storage: photos are stored on our object storage (S3-compatible).

Some product suggestions are affiliate links — if you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These are clearly labelled in the app.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. Login codes expire within minutes. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data and plant photos (see “Your rights”), except where we must retain certain records (e.g. payment records) to meet legal obligations.

Your rights

• Access & correction: view and edit your name, city, and preferences in the app.
• Erasure: delete your account and associated data from Profile → Delete my account, which removes your plants, photos, and care history.
• Withdraw consent: turn off daily reminders at any time in Profile.
• Grievance: for any data concern, email us at hello@heyjivan.com and we'll respond within the timelines required by law.

Children

HeyJivan is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
